For years, I followed the traditional career playbook: go to a good school, build a stable career, work hard, and keep climbing.

On paper, it worked.

I built a successful marketing career at Sony, Dell, and AMD, eventually becoming a VP. But I also experienced layoffs, toxic workplaces, micromanagers, burnout, and the pressure to keep succeeding while feeling increasingly disconnected from myself.

While pursuing my coaching certification, I was laid off. That experience pushed me to rethink my relationship with work, identity, and success.

Today, through coaching, Forbes, and Corporate Escape Artist, I help experienced professionals make sense of difficult workplaces, career uncertainty, and tough career decisions.

My Forbes career column has received more than 12 million views, and my work has been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, Entrepreneur, Inc. and Success Magazine.

The work I’m proudest of is helping people feel less alone, understand their options, and decide what to do next.
